Technically trained as a book artist and printmaker, Phuong is interested in exploring different ways a narrator documents linear time and personal story. She uses a combination of color field printmaking, abstract fine line drawing, and fiber installation as a metaphor for reflection and meditation. Phuong’s most recent work uses a variety of organic fiber materials that allude to the body. By indirectly referencing bodily residue in abstract drawing or installation, Phuong merges delicate and grotesque marks to reveal the simultaneous tension and richness of an intimate journey.
Phuong currently lives in Baltimore, MD and works for the Smithsonian Institution Libraries. She is the proprietor of Phampersand Press, through which she markets and distributes one-of-a-kind and editioned artist books, journals/blank books, fine art prints, screenprinted apparel, and other handmade goods. Phuong is available for book conservation consultation, gallery preparation, and custom fine bookbinding. She is also a proud member of the Charm City Craft Mafia and the Hexagon community.
